Cookie Policy

1. The short version

Reading this site stores nothing on your device that identifies you. We ask once whether you are happy with analytics. If you say no — or say nothing — no analytics script is loaded, and no analytics cookie is created. If you say yes, Google Analytics sets the cookies listed below so we can see which pages people read.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which removes your stored choice and the analytics cookies with it.

2. Why we ask before, not after

Under the ePrivacy Directive and the national laws implementing it, your consent is required before a site stores information on your device or reads information already there. That is what the banner is for, and it is why the analytics script is not loaded until you have pressed Accept. A banner that appears after the tracking has already started is decoration, not consent.

3. What is actually stored

  • Your consent choice— kept in your browser's local storage under cws-cookie-consent, so we do not ask on every page. This is strictly necessary to honour your decision and is stored whichever way you answer. It contains only the words “accepted” or “declined”.
  • Google Analytics — only if you accept. _ga and _ga_<id>identify your browser across visits so that repeat visits are not counted as new people. They are set by Google, typically last up to two years, and are described in Google's own documentation. If you decline, we actively delete any of these cookies we find.

That is the complete list. There is nothing else, and if that changes this page changes with it.

4. What we do not do

  • No advertising, remarketing or conversion pixels.
  • No social media trackers.
  • No session recording, heatmaps or scroll tracking.
  • No selling or sharing of analytics data with anyone else.
  • No fonts loaded from a third party at page load — our typefaces are served from our own domain, so your browser never contacts a font provider.

5. The booking calendar

If you submit the contact form and a booking calendar appears, it is loaded from Cal.com and may store information on your device in order to run the booking — for example your place in the flow and your time zone. It is only ever loaded for someone who has submitted the form, never while you are simply reading the site, and you can ignore it: your enquiry has already reached us either way.

6. The client portal is different

Our portal at app.crestwebstudio.com is a separate application, and signing in there does set cookies. Those are strictly necessary: they keep you signed in and protect your session against forgery. They are never used for tracking or advertising, and they are cleared when you sign out. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, which is why the portal does not show a banner.
